Other Media Communications (OMC) was incorporated under the Companies Act (Delhi) in 1995, to work in the field of Media and Communications. Though a Private Limited Company, OMC’s sole objective is not the maximisation of profits; rather, OMC’s return on capital investment comes from the progress made towards strengthening communities and organisations in their various struggles for self-governance, freedom from persecution, peace, disarmament, environmental and gender justice. OMC expresses its solidarity and support by helping to communicate these voices of dissent by intervening in a space that was and is dominated by purely commercial and economic interests. We believe and view dissent as a creative and constructive process. We see in the ongoing peoples’ movements for peace, disarmament, denuclearization, better environment, gender justice and in the struggles of working people, Dalits, Adivasis, religious and other minorities a robust and a healthy expression of popular desire for building a society based on justice, peace and democracy. Through our work we seek to promote a deeper and a critical understanding of the realities we confront with the aim of helping evolve a cohesive perspective in our struggles and search for a just and equitable social order. OMC attempts to provide easy, transparent access to communications infrastructure, technical know-how and expertise to marginalised communities and organisations that are part of various alternative political processes. OMC endeavors to generate larger debate and discussions on sensitive and substantial issues by producing and distributing quality productions and media material; by addressing people beyond the already converted, to those who are as yet untouched by the people’s efforts and initiatives. OMC uses the profits and resources generated to initiate and support programmes in order to further strengthen the on-going struggles of various communities and peoples. |
